In the United States - as well as all around the globe - all industrial plants are subjected to tight regulations and standards regarding quality, safety, production, and several other parameters. Arguably, the sector with the highest scrutiny checklist is the food processing industry. Due to the nature of their consumable goods, the overall hygiene and sanitation of the plant must be pristine to ensure the safe consumption of their products. In this article, we will focus exclusively on the benefits of urethane concrete coatings since they meet all standards set by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and all other relevant agencies which govern this industry.
Some industries can afford to have uncoated floors in their processing factories, and that's because the overall quality of their products will not be affected by them. However, food and beverage plants must have coated floors because the entire production process will most likely expose them to a large number of organic waste and byproducts, such as oils, blood, sugars, and fatty acids. This bio-waste represents not only a safety hazard for the factory workers but also leads to a rampant bacterial growth when left untreated on concrete floors, which will ultimately compromise the quality and hygiene of these consumable goods. There are several options which meet all of the requirements set for the food processing industry, and we will cover one of the most popular options in the market, urethane concrete flooring.
Largely considered as the current standard when it comes to food processing plants, urethane cement coatings offer a myriad of benefits and they are a favorite amongst meat and poultry processing facilities. This type of layer bonds with concrete tighter and faster than others - even in cool, damp, and humid environmental conditions. Polyurethane also possesses a wider thermal range and a higher chemical resistance. In addition, antimicrobial additives can be featured in the formulation to minimize the risk of bacterial growth to virtually zero. Hygiene and sanitation are totally hassle-free, optimizing the factory uptime. Facilities can be quickly cleaned with both high-pressure water hoses as well as steam systems. Urethane concrete coatings meet all FDA, USDA, HHS, and other industrial requirements.
The most important benefit, however, is the rapid drying capability. Urethane concrete coatings usually come in the form of a slurry compound which, when in contact with the concrete floors, can dry completely in as little as 12 hours. This is a fairly advantageous and greatly undervalued bonus which lowers the factory downtime and will optimizing production. Urethane concrete is usually odorless and completely non-slippery as well. It's also important to note that these layers are low of volatile organic compounds (VOC) - in some cases, their VOC level is actually zero. Because of this feature, urethane concrete coatings are in compliance with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), which is a huge step towards a greener facility. Urethane cement coatings are initially a slightly more expensive investment but in the long run, their total uptime and ease of sanitation and maintenance will make them a worthwhile addition to any food processing facility. Hypoallergenic Epoxy Floors
by Seamless Floors NY
The Benefits for pets, especially dogs, are notorious for endless movement in and out of their spaces. They scratch floors occasionally, and that is their nature; not much you can do to stop them. It is therefore essential to provide them with the kind of flooring that can withstand constant scratching and abrasion from their sharp nails. Due to the fact that chemical disinfectants are regularly used in cleaning pet floors, and the methods for cleaning them are aggressive, these floors are subject to massive abrasion. Hypoallergenic epoxy floors are the solution.
Epoxy floor coatings are the most ideal for most animal and pet facilities including their shelters, training facilities, and veterinary clinics as they have been designed specially to withstand all forms of handling. They do not attract animal fur and can therefore be used for different types of pets.
Benefits of hypoallergenic epoxy floors.
Stain and scratch resistant - You would expect to find urine and droppings in kennels, and these are just the perfect medium for staining. Wooden, tiled, or carpet floors are known to stain easily and cannot withstand heavy regular cleaning. For instance, wood and carpet floors will wear out or even rot within a very short time, while a tile floor will lose texture and fade out. Epoxy floor coating can last a very long time without experiencing any of the above.
Slip resistant - Another factor that makes epoxy floors ideal for pets is their resistance to slide. For as long as a pet is in perfect health, expect them to be jolly and playful. Slippery flooring can cause injuries and that is why the kind of flooring should be a consideration. Carpet is made of fabric and cannot slip, but it can hinder the movement of pets by trapping their nails and causing injuries.
Easy to install - In the event that flooring change is needed, you cannot afford much downtime. Installing hardwood or tiles can take you a long time, but with epoxy flooring the downtime is minimal Seamless Floors Ny has flooring systems that can be installed in one day.
Durable and long lasting - Pet owners can do well with a kind of flooring that can perform for several years after installation. In addition, they'll want something that is easy and less costly to maintain.
No harmful chemicals used - Toxic chemicals such as formaldehyde can be dangerous to both pets and their owners and should be avoided at all costs. Hypoallergenic epoxy floors contain zero chemicals, making them the safest flooring material for your pets.
Chemical resistant - Sterilizing floors after cleaning is necessary, and in most cases requires the use of some sort of chemical. Epoxy floors will be resistant to chemicals and will not wear out due to use of these chemicals and can remain in good shape for several years. The same cannot be said about other types of flooring. Wood, tiles, and concrete flooring cannot withstand use of chemicals for a long time and you'll be required to replace them sooner than later.
Cheap in the long run - By virtue of being durable, stain and scratch resistant as well as being chemical resistant, epoxy floors are far more cost effective compared to other types of floors. After installation, all there is to do is to ensure that maintenance is carried out regularly with a quick hose down or mop, these epoxy floors are completely waterproof.
Best for pest control - Wood and carpet floors provide perfect hiding places for pests and parasites. With hypoallergenic epoxy floors the surface is seamless so the critters have no place to hide.
Attractive finish - Pets might not be in a position to realize how attractive the floor is, but as the pet owner you can't help but admire the kind of finish epoxy flooring comes with, there are endless color choices and finishes to choose from.
Easy to clean and maintain, epoxy floors are wax free so they don’t need monthly or weekly maintenance.

Epoxy Basement Floor installed in Brooklyn
by Seamless Floors
This basement slab had extreme settling and cracking making the floor impossible to go over with any other flooring system, the ups and downs were over a 1/2" from one area to the next. (after inspection of the floor, we suggested that a decorative chip system be installed) The benefit of a decorative chip system is that it will hide a lot of the imperfections and cracks in the floor. (we only install full broadcast chip systems, this means the entire floor is completed covered with the decorative chips)
